Summary

I currently hold a PhD in Computer Sciences with a Specialization in Image/Video and Signal Processing and Analysis. Prior to my scientist studies and job, I worked as a support engineer. I have a solid research background (several publications in major conferences and journals), and the algorithms I developed are successfully used in real word applications (apartment, hospital room, ...)

My research interests include: signal and image processing, computer vision, multisensor fusion, activity recognition for real world applications, networking, web and database development, gerontechnology.

Professional experiences

- Research Engineer at INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France and CHU Nice-Cimiez, France (February - October 2010)
Monitoring Alzheimer patients at Nice Hospital for the Sweet-Home project:
  • Video data acquisition of real Alzheimer patients.
  • Video annotation & analysis for behavior recognition.
  • Design of video and medical database.

- PhD Student at INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France (November 2006 - January 2010) - Manuscript - PhD Defense
Worked on the Gerhome project at Orion/Pulsar team , under the supervision of Monique Thonnat and Francois Bremond, and collaborated with Prof. Philippe Robert from CHU Cimiez (Nice, France).
Multisensor Fusion for Monitoring Elderly Activities at Home:
  • Develop algorithms to detect and track people as they move, and recognize activities of interest based on multisensor analysis and human activity recognition.
  • Propose an approach combining heterogeneous sensor data for recognizing elderly activities at home.
  • This approach consists in combining data provided by video cameras with data provided by environmental sensors to monitor the interaction of people with the environment.
  • The results of this approach are shown for the recognition of ADLs of real elderly people evolving in an experimental apartment called Gerhome equipped with video sensors and environmental sensors.

- IT Support Engineer at Groupement Berkine, Anadarko-Sonatrach (January 2002 - June 2004)
  • System and Network Support for Clients/Servers (WindowsNT4/2000/2003/Xp, Office2000/Xp, Unix, Sun Solaris)
  • User Account and Group Management (Ms Exchange Server 2000,Active Directory).
  • Network management (firewall, Cisco)
  • Daily clients/servers administration tasks (Veritas Backup, Symantec Ghost, PCAnywhere).

- Internet cafe owner, Tizi Ouzou, Algeria (April 1999 - October 2001)
  • Pack Office and multimedia software trainer.
  • Network management and daily maintenance.
